This Blog is Written by Humans!
So, here we are, at the dawn of the age of Artificial Intelligence. I don’t really understand the tech behind it, and I have only the vaguest notion of what a “large language model” is, but I do know that AI is now being used to write a lot of content for blogs and web pages. So I think it’s important to say that this blog is not one of those.
Our whole business here at EnCompass Improv is about trusting ourselves, actual human beings, to come up with what we need to innovate and explore and even survive in this world. So you can trust that this blog is part of our own work on that. Most of the posts will be written by me, Nick Trotter, but we’ll have other people contributing in the future. It’s part of putting our money where our mouth is, and showing that a blog can be, well, improvised. What you’re seeing here is not quite just “first drafts,” but they’re only lightly edited, because blogs need to be conversational, moderately informal, and most of all, fresh.
The first thing college professors noted about AI-generated term papers was that the grammar was flawless. Furthermore, the content was bland and, well, average. It was obviously canned, and not fresh at all.
It’s not real creative thinking.
So here, we’re challenging ourselves to do better than that. And maybe that means we’re risking doing “worse.” But we center humanity in our work. That’s the core of everything we do. So that’s what you’ll get in this blog.
As a side note, most of these posts are written by the human Nick Trotter. They may occasionally be written by our associates or guests… who will also all be human.
